Using Performance Models to Optimize Arm-based Data Center SoCs

Cloud service providers see huge potential in customizing compute SoCs to the specific workloads in their data centers.

We present a Virtual Prototyping environment to optimize power and performance of heterogeneous many-core SoCs with complex cache coherent interconnect and deep memory hierarchies.

Using realistic workload models of data center applications and Arm’s new performance models, we show how to tune the SoC architecture to the application’s compute and bandwidth requirements.
